'Training feedback'
Fourteen participants opted to forego the half term holiday and take part in the latest round of CEA training at St. William's College, York on October 28th and 29th.
Applications
The CIEA team had screened the applicants who were from a wide variety of backgrounds, although the majority were Local Authority personnel. The quality of the applications was exceptionally high.
The York Event
This particular event was part of the CIEA's remit to provide a CEA for every school by 2020. This is a particularly demanding remit, but by the end of this calendar year, there should be sufficient CEAs to roll the programme out nationally and run simultaneous events.
In total 14 delegates were chosen to take part in the event. The event followed the now familiar pattern of looking at the processes that lie within the Professional Framework:
-
Preparing for Assessment
-
Conducting Assessment
-
Feeding Back after Assessment
-
Managing Oneself
-
Managing Others
Since this was both a training and assessment event, the CIEA team made clear to the delegates that they would be continuously assessed, with their understanding of the Professional Framework and its application to any assessment process scrutinised in detail.
Evaluations
Delegates were asked to complete an evaluation at the end of the two days. The results of that evaluation from the York event can be found below:

Relaxed and non-threatening atmosphere - lots to reflect on - very supportive throughout
This has been a really worthwhile course. Things learned here will be really useful for future development. The material was excellent. The tasks set were designed to test learning and reinforce what we covered. We all settled well and enjoyed the training.
An enjoyable professional training event in a good venue.
Thank you for an interesting training session.
T
his has been a very informative course and has given me the motivation to research the subject further. Although the tasks were challenging I felt supported by colleagues and the course leaders
This has been a great opportunity to see how, no matter the context e.g. primary/HE, the process of assessment is the same.
