The TLA provides a CPD framework which enables you to gain professional recognition from your peers for your learning and work in the classroom. It is a professional community of teachers, schools and other organisations.

Benefits:

  • Improve your teaching, classroom and educational assessment practice
  • Explore the impact of classroom-based and school-based assessment practice
  • Access support and knowledge from the TLA online community
  • Share your findings and experience with colleagues
  • Gain national professional recognition (Stages 1 to 4)

An increasing number of CIEA members are gaining TLA recognition via assessment-themed submissions. Topics have so far included:

TLA Stage 1

  • Developing strategies to facilitate pupils to better understand the GCSE assessment framework for Speaking and Listening coursework in order to raise achievement.
  • Extending use of assessment for learning strategies to encourage A' level students to develop skills as independent learners.
  • Implementation of pupil self-assessment in a year 8 history assessment
  • Year nine pupils taking ownership of their own learning through the use of self-assessment and peer-assessment techniques.
  • Self-evaluation for handwriting within a reception class

TLA Stage 2

  • Re-designing the year 9 Drama course by incorporating clearer formative and summative assessment so as to better prepare students for GCSE in Year 10.
