Team leader - moderator

Role

Where the team of assistant moderators for an internally marked component is too large for all the moderators to be monitored by the principal moderator, one or more team leaders are appointed to share this responsibility with the principal moderator. Team leaders supervise a team of moderators, providing feedback on the quality of their re-marking and moderation and ensuring that they observe the awarding body's administrative procedures and deadlines. Team leaders are responsible to the principal moderator (or to an assistant principal moderator where appropriate) for the quality of their own moderation work and also for the work they carry out in order to monitor their teams of assistant moderators. Team leaders may assist the principal moderator to collate exemplar material to be used at the standardisation meeting for the component or to mediate with problem centres during the moderation process.

Qualifications

Team leaders are usually moderators with several years of experience of moderation at the appropriate level.
