Make the Grade magazine 'Calling all members'

The summer edition of Make the Grade magazine will shortly be landing on your door mat and as always it includes a number of expert reviews and articles on assessment practice from some of the country's leading practitioners.

We are inviting you to participate in articles for our magazine, Make the Grade.

There are two routes to becoming involved:

1) We are keen to hear your views and experiences of assessment and how you or your centre manages the assessment process. This will help us to promote best practice. If you would like to share your ideas with other members of the CIEA please write to the editor of Make the Grade, Stephanie Sparrow.

2) Participate in our new Roadtest feature, where we highlight how the latest tools are being used. We are particularly interested in hearing from centres which have used the CIEA Professional Framework and/or the Assessment Skills Gap Analysis tool.

Again, please write to the editor of Make the Grade, Stephanie Sparrow.

If you are interested and would like to write an article then please contact us by emailing info@ciea.org.uk.

May Poll survey results

Earlier this month we invited you to give us your views on workplace assessment.

We asked you whether or not employers place enough emphasis on the assessment of workplace learning and training programmes and whether workplace assessors receive the correct level of training and support to perform effectively in their role?

81% of you believe that not enough emphasis is placed on the assessment of workplace learning and training programmes and 77% of you believe that workplace assessors do not receive enough training to perform effectively in their role.

The results from this month's 'Your Call to Action' and all previous months' member polls can be found below by following this link:. Read more...

  Monthly Member Poll/

Regionalisation and Online Professional Networking Survey

The CIEA has teamed up with the Professional Associations Research Network (PARN) to launch an online survey dedicated to two important membership-specific areas:

Regionalisation and special interests - All members are allocated a geographic region (based on home or work postcode) and each region has a dedicated online discussion board within the Member Area. Members can also outline their assessment-related interest areas whilst logged in. In the near future we hope to further develop these services so this is a great opportunity to have your say!

Online Professional Networking - You have no-doubt heard about the online social networking (e.g. Facebook and Twitter), however professional online networking is becoming more and more popular with an ever-growing list of membership organisations offering this functionality to their members. We are already piloting a Chartered Educational Assessor (CEA) Network; however we and we are keen to establish if there is demand for a network that all members can access.

The results of this short (10 minute) survey will inform future policy/strategy so you are encouraged to complete it.

Take me to the survey

The survey is administered by PARN and will not just help to drive future CIEA policy/strategy but will also help other UK-based membership organisations develop.

Your response will be completely anonymous and will be treated as strictly private and confidential.
