CIEA works in partnership with Local Authorities to improve assessment practice
|
|
The CIEA recently engaged with a number of local authorities via a series of QCDA Local Authority Conferences.
Events were held in Birmingham, Manchester, London and York and enabled Local Authority representatives to share good practice and be updated on the forthcoming 09/10 assessment cycle. Delegate feedback was positive and many authorities expressed an interest in finding out more about the CIEA.
All Local Authorities were offered 1-month free trial memberships for their schools and colleges, and take up has been encouraging.
The trials not only help the CIEA to recruit new members but also contribute towards showing local authority commitment to good educational assessment knowledge and practice.
Local Authorities involved in the scheme include Bradford, Gloucestershire, Brent and Lancashire. If you are working within a Local Authority and would like to activate a trial for your schools and colleges please contact Membership Manager, Richard Gott .

CIEA Annual Membership Survey in progress
|
|
The CIEA has been carrying out the annual member satisfaction survey over the past three weeks. A random sample of 100 Associates, 100 Members and 100 Fellows are currently being questioned.
If you are contacted over the next week or so we would encourage you to take part in the survey as your views count to the future of the organisation.
If you have already taken part the CIEA would like to thank you for your input.

Teacher Learning Academy (TLA) grant CIEA Advocate status
|
|
The TLA is a professional organisation that helps schools and teachers focus on practice-based professional learning via national recognition (TLA Stages 1 to 5).
The organisation provides a CPD framework which enables teachers to gain professional recognition from their peers for their learning and work in the classroom.
In October the CIEA was granted TLA Advocate support partner status.
Membership Manager, Richard Gott, commented: 'This is good news for the institute as it conveys our strong commitment to promoting and offering high quality assessment-related continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities to the teaching profession.
If you are a teacher registered with the General Teaching Council for England (GTCE) you are eligible to apply for TLA recognition.

CIEA Regional Networks - have you joined yours?
|
|
Last month we reported the introduction of online regional networks, and in less than 6 weeks we have received a fantastic response from members who have joined one of the following groups:
National Network, East Midlands Network, London Network, North East Network, North West Network, Northern Ireland Network, South East Network, South West Network and West Midlands Network.
Current topics being discussed include:
North West Region: Should we revisit Tomlinson's original intentions and use the Diploma to provide evidence of intellectual, vocational and additional skills needed by society?
West Midlands Region: Professional opportunities to meet?
Join here and start talking to members in your region.
Note: You will need to register on the LinkedIn website before accessing your local group, so your CIEA username and password will not work automatically; however there is nothing stopping you from using the same username and password!
